My neck is burned. Stupid summer sun. Go away, dnw.

Spent a lot of money with [livejournal.com profile] therathasspoken on Saturday. For the record, we found the store we were looking for! After much trying on and admiring of clothing, and the ensuing indecision, we finally worked out what we were going to buy, bought it, and moseyed to Essendon for Bec's street party.

Yesterday I went to the Belgian Beer Garden for drinks with old acquaintances from uni. Jem was there, so I had somebody to cling to. I decided to walk home via Albert Park Lake, and stopped along the way at my favourite cafe for refuelling. :D

♥ This band, you guys.

Bahahaha! I am just a little bit excited, maybe.

Right now, life is filling me with enthusiasm.

Last night involved a Mexican restaurant, delicious food and toxic margaritas, and catching up with a good friend. I slept in until 11:30 this morning (gasp!), but it wasn't all sleep, on account of being woken up by dad leaving for work, then mum beginning tutoring in the room next door to my bedroom and talking loudly.

My puppy has had a haircut, and is Nearly Naked Dog!, or is at least well-groomed. She's giving me the evil eye from her prime perch on top of the spare bed at the moment.

I actually have time to nick into my favourite recycled clothes store this afternoon, just to poke around and see if anything is worth taking home with me. Will also make a trip to the op-shop across the road, for research, you know.

There's a social event in the form of a housewarming for me to attend this evening, and I will have [livejournal.com profile] thrathasspoken's company for the train trip home again, as neither of us can stay the night, and the last train leaves at just after 10pm. Enforced sensible hours, ahoy!

Tomorrow afternoon there shall be $2-shop shopping and movie watching and giggling, flailing, and probably brainstorming (which may or may not involve falling off the couch, given that [livejournal.com profile] therathasspoken is involved in the shenanigans).

[livejournal.com profile] originaluddite is very shiny. I used the new printer (see yesterday's post) to scan the drawing [livejournal.com profile] originaluddite drew for me a while back, so now I can upload it and share it with you all at an appropriate time point. Seriously, the drawing is awesome, and so is the scanner. :D

Singapore was great! Alas, I didn't actually have time to see much of the city in its own right, but I did manage to get along to the Night Safari, run by the zoo. If you're ever there, you must go to the Night Safari - it was wonderful! Many cool animals to see (including an armadillo!), and it's very well laid out and informative. There was also a stall where you could stick your feet into a fish tank, and all the fish would groom your skin. Apparently, it tickled but felt great afterwards... I didn't get around to giving it a go, but it certainly looked weird from an observer's perspective!

The colloquium was pretty busy, and incorporated many speakers from a range of countries and backgrounds, talking on many issues currently faced by the collaboration, and what might be done about them. There were also about 20 workshops per day to choose from, which made decisions about which to attend very challenging! I helped to present a poster, and I had the chance to meet some very interesting, and potentially useful, people, from both Australia and overseas. I networked like the social butterfly I can sometimes be, and unearthed a couple of potential postgrad supervisors. \o/

I'm glad to be home, though. I got sick of the food for a start; I enjoy various Asian dishes once in a while, but they are very meat-oriented (even the "vegetarian" options usually contained meat in some form or another).

*yawn*

Trivia Night last night was very entertaining! Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mawaridi and [livejournal.com profile] splatchtrock and associates for working so hard on it all!
