moulin rouge... the real thing
Feb. 1st, 2007 08:33 pmI'm alive!
I've spent the last 4 days in paris having the time of my life.
I went to the Moulin Rouge last night. It was really cool! And totally not what I expected, aside from the woman who swam with snakes, and the can can. Those I knew about already. But there were 6 miniature horses, audience participation in a mime skit, a really cool juggler, acrobats, and other cool stuff. Also, there were hot guys. And boobs, of course, but that wasn't surprising in the slightest. It was fucking expensive, but worth it- also, there was champagne. A fabulous girls' night out!
A summary of the last week:
Saturday- bought lots of Belgian chocolate, went to music museum and took billions of photos, soaked up cafe culture with
foxe
Sunday- caught train to paris, after much waiting at station. Caught cold as well. Refused to let that stop me. Discovered that hostel has 121 steps to top floor... and that my room is on the top floor.
Monday- to the Louvre! And then a walking tour! And then dinner across the street from Moulin Rouge, with a bunch of Aussies
Tuesday- Eiffel tower and further exploration on foot, with friends from hostel. Had THE BEST dinner... bread, camember and red wine on a park bench under the Eiffel Tower. Once dark, went up the tower with H. Everyone else had done it before so they stayed behind.
Wednesday- lazy day. Fabulous breakfast of croissants and pineapple. Trip to Notre Dame, and also up Notre Dame. Nutella crepes as a reward. Souvenir shopping. People watching. General happiness at having found friends. Moulin Rouge in evening, as previously described. Had fun getting ready!
Thursday- another lazy day. Baguette for brekky. An Italian guy came along with us too. He knew v. little English. Still, t'was fun. Then, to the station to book train, then to the Louvre! Only I didn't go in, it was just H and J, because they hadn't yet been. So I said my goodbyes to them and hope to catch up with them when I am in Brisbane over BIV. They are from the gold coast.
Friday- hasn't happened yet.
