May. 7th, 2007 09:33 pmThe illness that killed a rat last week was, thankfully, not contagious. If you're getting vibes of relief from me, that's because I am very, very relieved. And kind of scared that it could happen again.
The Soul Mama lunch adventure yesterday afternoon was a success. 16 people (mainly family) came to help me celebrate my birthday, and to share great vegetarian food in a great, friendly environment, with a floor-to-ceiling view of the beach and bay to complement the occasion. To top it off, the weather was perfect, and the sea a brilliant blue. Both my parents gave succinct speeches that made me feel very loved (even if dad got my DOB wrong... it's a common problem in my family!), and I had a new outfit that made me feel prettiful.
Shopping for aforementioned outfit proved to be much fun. Yay! I met up with Sar on Saturday arvo. We did the catch-up thing over hot chocolates at Koko Black in the city, and started planning a mutual friend's hens' night (thanks to
pezzae for her helpful suggestions!). After a sufficiently long interval, we left our nosy cook cozy nook and set out for shops! Shops found, shops raided, shops shown to be bitterly disappointing. The solution to our woes was to head to the ever-wonderful South Melbourne Market. I got a dress with large buttons on it, and a top to go under it.
Sat'dy evening I went to see MYO play. Well, I went to see MYO to see Jess play. Sadly, I didn't see much of Jess, because I sat in the one seat in the entire house where the conductor obscured her completely from my line of sight. Never mind- I caught occasional glimpses, and had an almost uninterrupted view of the top corner of her cello! and the concert was good anyway. We went out for drinkies afterwards, which was cool. Met some new people, etc etc. Jess stayed the night at mine, to solve transport issues.
Birthday wise, I got some awesome stuff. Not to sound too materialistic, but the stuff I got made me happy. :)
Things include:
- a book voucher
- a new violin case! Although it's not yet in my possession... I got it, but my violin didn't fit into it, so we have to change it. Nevertheless, very, very cool.
- Funky stationery
- A beautiful wooden jewellery box (I chose it, actually, so of course I like it)
- Sheet music, Urtext edition, of violin repertoire of the Bach variety.
- A hot chocolate maker
Most of all, though, the people behind the presents made, and make, me happy.
Interesting debate on 4 corners about euthanasia tonight.
Also, Robin Hood = ♥LOVE♥
G'night.
