Here is an account of my evening.

Family: *watches Midsomer Murders on ABC*
Midsomer Murders: *ends*
Mum: Quick! Change the channel, save me from Rage!
Mum: *tries to change channel to SBS*
Mum: *fails at using the remote* SEND HELP!
Dad: *changes channel successfully*
Movie: *is on and has subtitles*
Me and dad: Japanese porn!
Me: ...except it's Chinese...
Dad: it's Chinese Japanese porn!
Movie music: *plays Grieg*
Dad: it's Norwegian Chinese Japanese porn!
Movie: *is all about a soccer team that can fly*
Movie characters: *fly over soccer field, doing remarkable things with the ball that only ever happen in Chinese movies.*
Ball: *is kicked so hard it is set alight. Numerous times. And survives. And turns into improbable things, like cloud monsters.*
Me: This is like Jackie Chan meets Bend It Like Beckham meets Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon meets Pink Panther.
Family: *are amused*

My family? Is made of awesome. And FYI, my dad has a long-held theory that the only thing that SBS ever shows late at night is Japanese porn, which is how that conversation came about.
