Oh my god, why do awesome things keep happing in cities that are not mine? Or, more rightly, why do I miss them when they happen to be here? No, self. I cannot justify a surprise! trip to Perth. You just have to suck it up, dude.

In contrasting news, I am going to see the Cat Empire in 2 weeks. It means I'll miss the Fresher Day soiree, but I am unrepentant.

What else? Ah, yes.

I went to dinner last night with [livejournal.com profile] originaluddite - it was an unplanned affair involving a cup of peppermint tea at the hospital cafe, followed by an intermission during which I quickly concluded my work day and plans to reconvene in half an hour. We ended up at a dodgy Italian cafe with a sleazy waiter, but with comfy seats and nice hot chocolate, and when the cafe shut, we wandered down the street to Nando's. I know, it's classy - I'm a classy kinda gal. Nonetheless, it was a wonderful way to pass an evening.

Who felt that impressive earthquake just go through? [livejournal.com profile] mesongles and I were studying at the desk when we thought a semi-trailer had gone past. We quickly realised this was not the source of the vibration when the entire house started shaking.

Anybody know any more info? We tried logging on to various geo sites, but they've all crashed. I am guessing that other people googled as we googled and the server crashed. o.O.

Melbourne, you still amaze me.

Hot->firestorms-->smoke haze->hot->freezing cold ->rain ->earthquake. Logical progression, y/y?
