I forgot that Public Transport would be extra shite today. Stupid Queen Stupid birthday Stupid holiday. OK, so I am just jealous that I don't get a holiday today. I admit it. :P

Kyabram was really good. As per usual, time seemed to stand still while I was there. I love that lazy, languid quality which time seems to acquire in that place; it seems as though some essence of half-remembered vitality pervades the air, reminiscent of the days when the farm was a working orchard and my grandmother and her children spent all their time keeping things running, and, as my grandmother has gradually slowed down, so too has the farm. Or...maybe I am talking crap.

*shrug*

All I know is that I love going up there. The trip up on Friday night was quite magical - everything was shrouded in fog, and the farmhouses dotting the roadsides with warm, inviting lights almost seemed like portals to other worlds.

Saturday brought home the reality - it rained. All day. All night. And most of Sunday too. Lol! So much for my dreaming. Still, the rain was very welcome as the land is parched. We went to Echuca on Saturday afternoon, and walked idly along the main shopping strip. Oma is currently suffering arthritis of the hip, so she's having trouble moving around. We just took it slowly and enjoyed the rainy weather and the cosy shops and the bakery and the riverfront. We had lunch with my aunt and uncle that night, then watched Foyle's War til midnight. Well, I watched. Oma took a nap on the couch.

BBB - bring it on! ...*hides under doona for safety* I don't think I am going to have time to breathe this week, let alone read everything that's on my to-read list. Between essay proofing for multiple people, work reading, books I want to read (reading for fun? Wow, how novel. Ahaha, that pun was actually unintentional. I am *so lame*.), and BBB...*dies* (but at least I will die with books!)

Currently reading: Waterlemon, by Ruth Ritchie (husband in a coma and other setbacks). It is worth a look - funny, insightful, poignant and sad, by turns.

Just finished: Dog on it, by Spencer Quinn. Narrated by a crime-fighting dog. Pretty awesome as far as light fluff goes.

Hanging out for: The Demon's Lexicon, by Sarah Rees Brennan. Ohmigod, I can't wait! I covet that book so hardcore. *squirms*
