Beach trip of tents and BBQs
Jan. 2nd, 2010 07:54 pmI'm home, and only slightly sunburned, after 8 days at the beach.
I missed my puppy, and I'm glad to be home. That said, the trip itself was largely great, and very relaxing. There was sleeping (yay!), strawberry picking, a trip to a goat dairy (and there were some very friendly baby goats! SO ADORABLE!), winery touring, several trips to the hot springs, camp cooking, mad dashes to the coffee shop across the two-lane but incredibly busy road, and inevitably, swimmin' in the salty water at the beach (and, also inevitably, sand in uncomfortable places). I shared a tent with
evil_s and
beachy_woods for the first two nights, then switched to share with
therathasspoken and
dzurlady, and eventually also
gabyvarius, when the former two arrived at camp. There are photos, which I shall put up eventually.
On NYE there was a storm, which was exciting in a mildly-too-exciting-for-kitties sort of way, but nothing flooded and nobody was fried by errant lightning, so all was well in the end. The weather gave us a long enough break to usher in the new year on the beach, singing madly with chorister folks and watching
ockyflam do his best attempt at fire twirling in difficult conditions. Illegal fireworks were in abundance, with some a little too close to home for comfort.
Today, Stretch launched the boat he spent all week making, and it floated, despite bets to the contrary between
evil_s and myself. Much amusement!
OH. Also, I saw Sherlock Holmes, and it was epic!
Um. That is all.
