My state is on fire.
131 confirmed dead, over 700 homes gone, and the toll is rising.
My parents have friends in what was formerly the small town of St Andrew's. We don't know if they survived; we've asked to be contacted if further information comes through. We know that their property probably didn't make it, seeing as St Andrew's doesn't actually exist any more, and their phone line isn't working.

fire_babe telling me as we looked out the window of the main hall that the campsite was in a prime bushfire spot. How chillingly true that turned out to be.
I donated to Wildlife Victoria; they lost 2 wildlife shelters in the inferno, yet have more animals than ever with which they must cope - animals rendered as homeless and shell-shocked and wounded as their human counterparts.
I'm planning to donate to the Myer appeal, too; they are matching dollar-for-dollar every donation made through them. Any creature who survived that hell, human or otherwise, deserves all the support they can get.
Though I am not directly affected, I mourn for my homeland, and for all those who are directly affected. My heart goes out to you.
