I don't know what I did right, but I somehow scored an invite code to DreamWidth, so...hurrah? I am why_am_i over there, too, so feel free to add me. I wanted to change my user name, but decided against it because having uniformity between multiple accounts can be quite handy.

I'll have to have a play with it and learn how to make the most of it, but it's currently in my (large) list of 'things I will do when I get around to it'. Ha.

[livejournal.com profile] monucs camp was pretty damn fine. We got horribly mildly lost getting there in the dark on Friday night (and collected 2 other lost carloads of people along the way), but we all made it without requiring a search and rescue team - win! Britannia Park holds many fond memories for me, as a former brownie/guide.

[livejournal.com profile] joshwithguitar spent some time at 3am last night teaching me the basics of guitar. I was keen, because I wish to not make a fool of myself (again) when I next see my yankee relatives. Before that, we had a 'jam session' (for lack of a better term), along with D and A; everybody encouraged me to at least have a go at improv, classical violin style, so I did. [livejournal.com profile] joshwithguitar patiently made up chords as I clumsily fumbled together a melody in A minor. I was even quite pleased with the result! Lol - thanks for not throwing me out, guys. D then sang us some of her rather splendid compositions, and I was dead impressed.

Revue was wicked! Highlights: [livejournal.com profile] pezzae sang beautifully (with [livejournal.com profile] seagoon at the piano), [livejournal.com profile] nouv_ella stunned everybody with that lovely voice of hers, [livejournal.com profile] splatchtrock cleverly rewrote 'The Lumberjack Song' to revolve around choristers, [livejournal.com profile] actrealdon presented part two of 'Everything's Funnier in a Scottish Accent', using an Avril Lavigne medley to hilarious effect, while [livejournal.com profile] dzurlady got everybody to do a conga line.

Guys, guys, stop the press. I MADE IT TO A CAMP REHEARSAL. I know, you've all just collapsed in shock. Sorry about that. In keeping with my own tradition, I did not make it to the first quarter of Saturday's rehearsal, as my doona was a far more attractive option. When at last I emerged to face the day, I decided to take my doona with me; it was a wise move, as rehearsal was quite cold! Conductor made me sight-sing second sop for the last quarter, because all the Real Second Sops buggered off and the two who were remaining were both struggling. Now, as I was sight-singing 1st sop for most of the rest of camp, I'm not actually all that much better off in terms of learning my own part than I was before camp, but then again, I like a good challenge.

Finally, and in conclusion, yay for freshers! Seriously, you guys are awesome, and very talented! Also brave - nobody seems to have been seriously scared to the point of not returning, and fresher participation in social activities such as costume night is at an all-time high - you guys rock!

...sorry, I just had to take a moment and lol.

Taken from icecreamhdaches:
Here at The Bamboozle, the first big act of Saturday evening was Cobra Starship, a dance-pop group hailing from New York (though it grew from Jersey roots). Lead singer Gabe Saporta, formerly of New Jersey ska/hardcore outfit Midtown, led a rapturous crowd through a set of synth-heavy, tongue-in-cheeky anthems such as "Kiss My Sass" and "Guilty Pleasure," prefacing each with an obscenity-laced announcement of one sort or another. Like all of the bigger acts here, Saporta could have taken the night off and let his fans do all the singing.

...so true. In fact, that's exactly what Seether did during a quick break in their set - the guitarist sat down and played the opening bars to 'Broken' while waiting for Shaun, and the crowd spontaneously started singing. Hehe!

First post to DW. It's comfortingly familiar in layout, but I think it will still take time to become acquainted with the features. At this point, I don't even know how many userpics one is allowed...

Am considering purchasing an account, but will hold off for a while. I want to know what I'm buying, before I buy it.

Anyway. I need to get back to my chamber of sleep, not to actually sleep, but rather to continue with my music practice.
